Unlovingly yours

mask

Remove thy mask, from the audience to your drama.

The sweet, bitter, brutal words you offer so loosely,

the bridge of trust you break, with no thought to the distances you create.

Loosen the charm from the public eye, they marvel at your attire, not knowing the inner side,

the confusion you extend to my shattered edged mind, and damaged bleeding soul,

the cuts, the bruises merged aside, go deeper than I mirror, deeper where my hidden voice resides.

Hover to the palpating organ, struggling to venture through my lifelines, it’s there; slowly fading, the love it once; held high.

Silence

Silence

There was silence, complete silence, a stillness in her voice, lost in her thoughts and lost in a world of her own. She had seem to set a resolve, like a companionship  so deep which often confused me.

She spoke after a great deal of debate within her mind, fighting the odds and whether to maintain her silence.

‘Silence is a friend of those who listen with attentiveness of what it brings and what it offers to share, try it you may be left at wonders’.

She then left, leaving the silence as my companion so I may reminisce and marvel at its wonders that she had already achieved.

Daily Prompt – Silence

Autumn

autumn

The Wind breathed with swift motion thrusting the vibrant leaves with all its might, allowing the trees to falter from one side to another. The scent of fresh grass, autumn leaves always made me smile. I stopped to inhale, taking it all in at once, before it escaped or was lost. One couldn’t trust the weather here, I certainly didn’t, as one moment the fresh breeze excited us to explore it’s warm colours, and then came the rain without warning, dampening all what was around and taking away the fresh aroma so quickly that I had already forgotten its taste.

I held my hand to stop the gust of wind, accompanied with leaves taking another stride my way, protecting my face from its possible attacks, I regained myself, moving a strand of hair that had become loose, and placed it behind my ear for support. Calmness inhabited all around, all silent, just the sound of leaves rustling now and then. The wind taking pauses before deciding to remind us of its presence. The birds perched on the branches, flying away all of a sudden to other destinations. I lean over to feel the soft, smooth leaves, caressing them gently just in case the colours faded, admiring their transformation through the seasons, their beauty more so now than ever before. I sighed, placing them down gently, then leaning against the tree, I sat, smiling at the scenery before me, then remembering why I had come here, I pulled out my book and began reading, drowning into a new adventure; away from reality.

I haven’t been able to post for a while, so I apologise, exams and revision have taken over, even though I enjoy it but I am finding it hard to manage time for blogging. However I aim to post at least weekly for the time being. Thank you to all of you who take the time out to visit and read my blog.

Transformation – Daily Prompt

Last Love

All glooms around me, I stand to reminisce our last fatal moment.

The feel of your touch, which awoke sensations never before touched, the taste of your  words, the freshness of your breath still lingers; the sweet sound of you’re voice still echoes. I stand alone, recalling what now is lost. Even the lifeless around me know. They understand as they have began to decay and refuse to flourish as they once did. They mock me or pity me. I refuse to acknowledge them, for the storm within me erupts like a volcano gushing forth its pain and anger with all its might to destroy everything within its reach. The pain builds and subsides at its leisure beyond my control.

Pain is a futile word to describe my loss. My heart mourns, it weeps due to being distant from you. It knows to only function in one way; and that is …
being with you.

Sold

silence-3

Seal those lips, do as you’re told,
lock your heart, instructed my mother.

She forgot to mention; my mind; & innocent soul!

Marry the man, I have been told, dress in bridal, and be quick; today is the day for you two to meet, and be whole.

Be whole! Or broken like fragments of glass. Our eyes have not met, our hearts neither attached, my life given away, to reside with a foreign stranger.

In the market of animals, I have been sold, to merry the man, who is yet unknown.

layered with henna, red bridal clothes, jewellery to add attraction for the foreign bidders’ eyes, this room becomes a showroom, to dazzle the winning possession, where I am held, and must hold.

Death do us part, a lifetime engagement, I signed my life, and married death; welcome me with open arms, as you all watch the drama unroll, for reality begins today, with a bitter brutal taste.

Stranger

Black arched shadow, human like, hiding in darkness, lost in black nights, escaping the fiery stars blazing a light.

Visible sometimes, only in the sun, only in the daylight.

A follower, an intruder, a stalker, unknown, follows my steps, whether quick or slow.

Quickening my pace, breathing with all might, the ghastly figure follows, not losing my sight.

Panting for air, oxygen, I cry, what’s happening, so quick, so fast; panic grips, sweating, cold chill trails through me, I cry, this can’t be right.

I pause, stop, holding with a blizzard of thoughts arguing my fate.

The sun calms its heat and rays of sunlight,

The stranger slowly fading, whispering with warmth;

‘set down your guard, I’m a friend not a foe,
my life is tied, to your end’.

The secret code to writing a best seller

Is there such a thing as a secret code to a best seller or is it a myth?
Well I decided to conduct some research to find answers and stumbled across some very interesting advice from various authors. The likes of Stephen King, Sylvia Day, Archer and Jockers (you get the idea).

‘An arresting opening line is crucial to ensnaring an audience’

I agree, absolutely spot on, it is the opening of the book and even first line which captures or ensnares the audience. Personally for me; the opening of a book is a deciding factor whether I will read further on or not. I often give the author many opportunities before I finally decide to abandon a book(which is pretty much towards the end of it).
Whilst Stephen King elaborates a little;

‘You should focus not on plot but situation, the most interesting of which can be expressed as a ‘what-if?’ question. Go easy on the research, beware of dialogue, and remember that people love reading about work. “God knows why but they do”.

Work, hmm, maybe it’s because they would like to relate to it in a way(I think).
Another interesting piece of advice  by one of the authors Jeffery Archer;

‘Just make sure the reader has to turn each page, desperate to find out what happens next. It’s that easy’ – Jeffrey Archer
We all have been there, enjoyed good books and still do, where we are eager to find out, what happens next, curiosity doesn’t just kill the cat, it pretty much kills us too.

Whispers – 2

Whispers – 2

Tears trickled down her cheeks, as she murmured her ordeal, ‘I deserve to be free, I deserve to live’. Her sobbing grew louder, as she screamed with full force, her knees became weak as she fell to the ground to garner some support, still clinching the knife, She had always fought for others but was failing to hold and fight for herself. The touch of the knife upon her wrist trickled drops of blood, the sight of it made her dizzy. As she remained still to regain her hold. She could hear footsteps, eager, frantically searching for something. She held her breath in horror, he was back, he had found her, as sweat trickled down her body, panic overtook her, she fell with a huge thud, darkness was overtaking her as her eyes closed slowly till she lost conscienceness..

Daily Prompt

Marriage

Marriage isn’t all about love, dreams and sensuality, it comes with its fair share of tests, trials and compromises.

It isn’t just smiles, giggles and laughter, there’s tears, sadness and a varied emotions thereafter.

Sometimes it will certainly feel like a dream, other times it won’t, it will be like, letting off some steam,

There will be storms, you will endure together, it may even be thunder, but it’ll surely make you both much more stronger.

Yes there’s bliss, peace and harmony, but sometimes when things don’t go right it can surely cause disharmony.

Sometimes you may have to step up to say sorry, sometimes you may have to be the comforter and say ‘Don’t worry’.

Marriage is about supporting each other and helping each other to grow, it’s not just about thinking good gestures, the love you hide, the care you hold, sometimes you do have to show.

Allow it to blossom just like a flower, be gentle and merciful every minute, every hour, it increases the affection you hold for each other, it unfolds the secrets of love between one another.

You will notice the difference as you remain patient, it’s not wise to react on every situation, you will see as your relationship grows, evolving with time, letting the sweetness grow, mercy and kindness are beautiful traits, allow them to envelope you both to evolve into soul mates.

A world of my Own

Sometimes I wish I could make a world of my own. A world of books, a world of adventures, a world where reading was my occupation.

A world of academics, scholars and students, who wish to explore the oceans of knowledge, who don’t make monetary their forefront and aim. A world of caring people, a world of non-contempt, a world of peace and serenity, a world that wishes to grow, to become better, and to become stronger.

To help one another, to uplift one another, to strive to be good, to make the one who is down, happy, to make the one who is sad, smile. A world of creativity, a world of bliss, and a world that understands.. to care and love one another.
