There was silence, complete silence, a stillness in her voice, lost in her thoughts and lost in a world of her own. She had seem to set a resolve, like a companionship  so deep which often confused me.

She spoke after a great deal of debate within her mind, fighting the odds and whether to maintain her silence.

‘Silence is a friend of those who listen with attentiveness of what it brings and what it offers to share, try it you may be left at wonders’.

She then left, leaving the silence as my companion so I may reminisce and marvel at its wonders that she had already achieved.

  1. Loved the topic of this poem and your painting of silence! Loved these lines – “‘Silence is a friend of those who listen with attentiveness of what it brings and what it offers to share, try it you may be left at wonders’.”

I love the truth of those lines. It’s the way I catch words and phrases – ambush them in the silence and darkness!

      1. Thank you so much dear, it is talking is often displayed as being confident and well spoken sometimes, whilst silence is often said to us is of a person who is either anti sociable or shy and not confident. I don’t believe it is the case.

        Thank you dear

      2. You are more than welcome. It is great to meet another “Lover of the Silence” (oh, I like that)! You are right on about silence. Silence is not properly appreciated, except by those who are wise!
        Have a great day!

  2. As your post intimates, so many people are afraid of silence. There is a tendency to think that one must always be the life and soul of the party, always laughing and joking. Many people fear the silence for noise blocks out thought and enables individuals to avoid pondering on the profound things in life. Great post. Kevin
