Scars

There’s a hidden story behind them, there’s a secret hidden pain,

those deep, yet long wrinkles, that attempt to hide the scars in vain.

Her sad sunken eyes searched for someone lost in the distance.

I noticed a tear tremble as she tried her best to avoid them in resistance.

Who was it that she longed for? who was it that she searched?

who could have left her so broken? Unaided as I continued to implore.

She looked at me; as if it was her final goodbye,

I held her hand to reassure her; as she began..

to close her eyes.

When one reaches old age, help them and learn from them. Don’t break them even further.

There’s much you can find just by looking into the mirrors of their soul.

  1. Wow, that was beautiful! Being young as I am, I can say that the young are overlooked, and people will not take me seriously, because of my age. However, this poem makes me think, if my youth is an excuse to overlook my thoughts, why do you do the same to the senior citizens? Is there a ‘prime age’ to be for your ideas to count? It is really something strange to think about.

    1. It’s sad to see this happens, regardless of age, everyone’s thoughts, ideas, feelings and input matters. One shouldn’t be sidelined for it.
Thank you ever so much for sharing your thoughts with us here. Lovely to hear from you.

    1. It’s always worth spending some time with them and just listening to what they share.
Often they crave that company but don’t seem to find it.

      Thank you for sharing.

  2. It is really a serious issue considering how many times I have witnessed people older than me are left alone- unnoticed, dejected. It wouldn’t be easy. They become more and more hungry for attention, for care. It is important to understand their pain. Thank for bringing forth this topic. 👍

    1. Thank you Sanket, and yes indeed it is. It’s sad to see them suffer alone and sometimes their end is very lonely.
My pleasure of course, I wanted to bring this forward for quiet sometime and finally I managed to do it.

      1. On a lighter note, I am a loner. I need plenty of lone hours, my own space. As kabir says ” marna bhala bides me, jahan na apna koye, mati khay janawara, maha-mahotsav hoye”. 😀

  3. Hey dear so good to read ur work again. This touched my heart. Very true. As we grow old we seek someone to be beside us someone to give us reassurance that no matter what there is someone to hold us
